The Ouat'Ouate is a bi-yearly scientific, sports, and information journal which is published by the Speleo Club du Liban. It tackles cave and karst related subjects in Lebanon, the Middle-East and abroad.
The Ouat'Ouate is distributed all around the world to more than 250 addresses representing individuals, cavers, scientists, libraries, caving clubs, etc. The International Union of Speleology (IUS) center and its International Library in Switzerland also receive copies of this magazine, which in turn make it available to the international caving community with unlimited access to any caver or interested individual / association in the world.
The journal is called Al-Ouat'Ouate which means 'The Bat' in arabic. There are five issues from 1957 until 1972. The new series began after the end of the Lebanese civil war in 1986 and 15 journals have been published to date.
The journals' content is wide ranging from articles on cave exploration, new cave discoveries, geology, hydrogeology, archaeology, cave protection, speleothems studies, show caves, photography in caves, speleogenesis...the list is endless.
Our bi-yearly journal is published thanks to the financial contributions of many individuals and associations.
